Branching Transition

The Metal Transition for Branching Concrete Barrier (MT-BCB) is a MASH TL-3 system that was designed and crash tested for transitioning from existing safety shape concrete median barrier (CMB) to portable concrete barrier (PCB). This type of transition is ideal for work zones at the start of an installation of PCB adjacent to CMB or adjacent to existing concrete barrier on the right side of the roadway as an alternative to using crash cushions. The MT-BCB effectively blocks off the opening between a crash cushion and the CMB to traffic that could potentially enter the work area behind PCB. The system consists of the following major components:

- Metal transition from existing permanent concrete barrier to PCB

- X-Bolt PCB with tapered end (for left or right side of roadway installations)

- X-Bolt PCB (2 units)
