The American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) welcomes Joe Yodock, a distinguished figure in road safety innovation, to its board of directors. With a career spanning over 30 years dedicated to enhancing road safety, Yodock''s addition to the board introduces a wealth of knowledge and experience to ATSSA’s mission of reducing roadway fatalities. Yodock, currently serving as the Director of Market Development at RoadBlock Solutions, expressed his commitment to the cause, stating, “It’s incredible to be involved in an industry where the primary question is, ‘How do we save lives?’ That''s what it all comes down to for me—saving lives.”
ATSSA has been at the forefront of the fight against roadway fatalities for over half a century, championing the design, manufacture, and installation of road safety and traffic control devices. As an advocate for traffic control safety training, ATSSA also plays a pivotal role in legislative advocacy, driving forward the goal of zero deaths on the nation''s roadways. Stacy Tetschner, President and CEO of ATSSA, expressed enthusiasm about Yodock’s board membership, “We are thrilled to have Joe on our board. His insights and extensive experience are precisely what ATSSA needs as we continue to lead the way in roadway safety.” Yodock’s career is marked by significant contributions to road safety, including the invention of the ‘Yodock’, a plastic water-filled barricade system that, along with other water-ballasted channelizers developed by Yodock and his father, has set a global standard in the industry. Holding over twelve patents, Yodock has played a crucial role in shaping the use of traffic control devices in the United States, working closely with the Federal Highway Administration and the Department of Transport to enhance crowd control and pedestrian safety. “Joe’s appointment is a reflection of his profound expertise and dedication to improving road safety. His innovative approach and educational efforts make him an unparalleled asset in this field. RSG International is immensely proud of Joe and eagerly anticipates his impact on ATSSA’s objectives,” remarked Lisa Laronde, President of RSG International. Yodock is set to fulfill a two-year term on the board of ATSSA as the traffic services director, contributing to the association’s ongoing efforts to advance roadway safety.
World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims is an occasion to honor those who have tragically lost their lives inroad accidents, to support survivors, and to renew the global commitment to improving road safety. This day highlights the human toll of road crashes and provides a platform for reflection and action.
With over 1.35 million road traffic deaths reported annually, the impact of these accidents extends far beyond the individuals involved. Families are torn apart, communities are affected, and entire nations face immense economic costs. However, World Day of Remembrance is not just about grieving; it is also a time for hope and for advocacy.
The day encourages governments, organizations, and citizens to push for meaningful changes that can prevent future tragedies. It’s a call to enhance legislation surrounding speeding, impaired driving, and distracted driving; improve road infrastructure, especially for vulnerable users such as pedestrians and cyclists; and ensure that vehicles are equipped with life-saving technologies like automatic emergency braking and lane-keeping assistance.
As we remember those who have passed, WorldDay of Remembrance serves as a powerful reminder that each of us has a role to play in reducing road traffic deaths and building a safer future for all.
